Learning outcomes

The student acquires skills on radiation protection and radiological surveillance of the operator and the population, statistical and stochastic radiation damage and the harmful biological effects of radiation.

Course contents

-Physical principles of ionizing radiation and their effect on the doctor and the patient

- Main notions of radioprotection and radiobiology

- ALARA principle

- Radiation protection in Neuroradiology

Teaching methods

Lectures held in the Aula Piccinini Polo Murri - Sant'Orsola Hospital, or in the Aula Ruggiero Pad. A - Bellaria Hospital, Bologna.

Any further information may be discussed outside of lesson times with those who explicitly request it.

Assessment methods

The verification of learning takes place through a final exam which ascertains the acquisition of the expected knowledge and skills by carrying out a written test which includes forced choice questions with 5 alternative answers (or open questions on topics relating to the main objectives of the Course ).

The partial grade for each module will be averaged (weighted average by number of credits) with the partial grades obtained in the other modules of the integrated course.
