  • Campus: Forli
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Intercultural and Linguistic Mediation (cod. 8059)

Learning outcomes

The student - knows the basic elements of French language and culture - is able to understand and produce written texts and oral discourse, expressing himself/herself with relative fluency and spontaneity.

Course contents

The French Language and Culture II course aims to deepen grammatical knowledge and acquire the methodological skills necessary for written and oral production.

With this in mind, the course includes the study of the French language in continuity with the Year I course, through the in-depth study of additional grammatical and lexical aspects.

Through the analysis of authentic written and oral documents that will focus on topics related to French and Francophone culture and society, grammatical, lexical and syntactic knowledge will thus be consolidated while at the same time cross-cultural knowledge will be expanded.

Emphasis will be placed on the four skills: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written production, and oral production, through a communicative and aational approach.

The course is complemented by 20 hours of French Language Lectureship with 70 percent compulsory attendance.

Teaching methods

The French Language and Culture II module includes the study of grammatical notions with in-depth studies and reflections in a contrastive approach and practical exercises to be carried out in the classroom and at home.

The use of audiovisual material and the Internet within the lessons is envisaged.

Students are expected to work autonomously, individually and continuously in order to acquire and/or complete grammatical preparation following the course programme.

Students will be asked to prepare and deliver oral presentations in small groups of two students with the aid of a PowerPoint on a topic agreed with the lecturer.

Please note that attendance of the course is compulsory and equal to at least 70% of the total hours.

Assessment methods

The final examination of the French language and culture module comprises

- a written test: grammatical and lexical aspects and short written production.
- an oral test: verification of the ability to understand and comment on authentic written texts relating to the topics covered in the course.

It is necessary to have passed the written test with a mark of 18/30 in order to be admitted to the oral test.

The use of aids such as dictionaries or grammar manuals is not permitted for the written test.

The oral presentation given during the semester will add one point to the final grade of the French Language and Culture exam.

Learning assessment scale
