Learning outcomes
At the end of the module, the student has the ability to apply knowledge and understanding to independently implement:
1) obstetric care techniques learned in theory, in obstetrics, gynecology and neonatal;
2) relational skills based on welcoming, listening, self-containment, empathy, absence of judgment and prejudice. Knows the specific functions of the midwife / or in relation to other professional figures in team work.
Course contents
The professional internship is a fundamental training method for developing professional skills, diagnostic reasoning and critical thinking; it is preceded by a preparatory phase in the teaching room.
The internship of the second year of the course is aimed at acquiring knowledge, skills and behaviors aimed in particular at the provision of specialist assistance in the consulting and neonatal field; in this last internship the student will be able to experience the techniques learned during the 20-hour WHO-UNICEF course, for breastfeeding support for mothers of newborns.
During each internship experience the student is supported by a Tutor. In order to be admitted to the internship exam, in addition to the completion of the expected amount of hours, the student must have achieved the sufficiency in all the objectives set by the clinical learning path of the course year.
Teaching methods
The exam consists of:
a) preparation of a PPT presentation on a topic chosen by the student carried out in plenary
b) in a practical test with simulation of a realistic context aimed at verifying the achievement of the objectives of the course year and effective communication addressed to the assisted persons.
In evaluating the candidate, the commission will pay particular attention to assessing the acquisition of an appropriate technical-scientific language
The internship experiences carried out will be considered in the final evaluation.
