Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student has the ability to apply knowledge and understanding regarding the main physiotherapy methods used in the neurological field and knows how to evaluate and set up a treatment plan in relation to them.

Course contents

The course will illustrate the Kabat method, the Bobath concept, the Affolter concept and the Neurocognitive Theory (Perfetti) for the treatment of adult patients suffering from neurological pathologies. The following will be explained about each one: Historical framework Theoretical foundations Areas of application Practical examples Furthermore, mention will be made of:

  • MENTAL PRACTICE
  • MIRROR THERAPY
  • CONSTRAINT INDUCED MOVEMENT THERAPY (CIMT)
  • MOTOR RELEARNING PROGRAMME
  • KT METHOD
