Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has the knowledge to recognize and interpret the main rheumatic diseases. In particular, the student knows: - the signs, symptoms and laboratory and imaging diagnostic data that characterize inflammatory arthropathies (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Seronegative Spondyloarthritis, Septic Arthritis, Crystal-induced arthritis); degenerative arthropathy (osteoarthritis or osteoarthritis); Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis. - Introduction on the classification of vasculitis, on inflammatory myopathies and on the classes of drugs used for arthropathies.

  • Lesson 1: Introduction to rheumatology; Semeiotics of inflammatory and non-inflammatory rheumatic diseases; Osteoarthritis; Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Lesson 2: Axial spondyloarthritis; Peripheral spondyloarthritis
  • Lesson 3: Crystal arthritis; Infectious arthritis; Fibromyalgia; Polymyalgia rheumatica
  • Lezione 4: Giant cell arteritis/Takayasu arteritis; Inflammatory myopathies

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons.

Assessment methods

Verification of learning takes place through a written test aimed at assessing the achievement of the educational objectives of the course. The exam is carried out jointly by the Professors of the three disciplines that make up the course.

The test will consist of 60 multiple-choice questions (4 or 5), of which only one will be the correct one. The time allowed will be 60 minutes.

There will be 20 questions for each module making up the course.

Correct answers will be awarded a score, while wrong answers or questions with no answer will have no score.

Teaching tools

The didactic material (slides) presented during the lesson will be available to students on the Virtuale portal. In addition, the slides of the lessons are provided with a bibliography, in order to allow the student deepen the topic.
