Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student has the ability to apply knowledge and understanding regarding the main models of interpretation of motor development, the child's motor behavior and its variability. Identify the preventive and rehabilitative needs of the child affected by the main pathologies of developmental age through the various evaluation methods. He knows the tools that can be used to achieve the objectives identified. He knows how to plan and carry out interventions aimed at satisfying the aforementioned needs.

Course contents

The preterm infant:

• rating

• neonatal care
• family counseling
• physiotherapy strategies indicated for achieving the objectives
• Postural care program
• infant massage
• proposal of aids and training for their use.
  

Infantile Cerebral Palsy (PCI):

• rating
• take-over targets

• organization of work in a multidisciplinary team
• family counseling
• physiotherapy strategies indicated for the achievement of the objectives in the various forms: spastic, ataxic, dystonic
• respiratory physiotherapy
• proposal of aids and training for their use
  

Neuromuscular diseases:

• rating
• physiotherapy treatment goals and strategies
• respiratory physiotherapy
• proposal of aids and training for their use.
  

Spina Bifida:

• rating
• physiotherapy treatment goals and strategies
• tutor training.
  

Genetic and chromosomal diseases:

• proposal of aids and/or orthoses and training for their use.
  

Midwifery paralysis:

• functional evaluation carried out through observation, inspection, palpation, mobilization
• therapeutic goals
• physiotherapeutic treatment: postural care, mobilizations, massage, facilitation of active movements, neuromuscular taping
• family counseling 

Congenital clubfoot (PTC):

• functional evaluation carried out through observation, inspection, palpation, mobilization
• therapeutic goals
•  physiotherapeutic treatment: postural care, mobilizations, massage, facilitation of active movements
• family training in the use of orthoses 

Myogenic torticollis and plagiocephaly:

• functional evaluation carried out through observation, inspection, palpation, mobilization
• therapeutic goals
• physiotherapeutic treatment: postural care, mobilizations, massage, facilitation of active movements, neuromuscular taping
