Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student: - knows the theoretical and methodological grounds of the intercultural approach to education; - is able to plan and lead an educational intervention in multicultural situations (at school or in extra-school environments), cooperating with other educational professionals; - is able to carry out observations, analysis and evaluation of multicultural contexts; - knows how to apply theoretical knowledge in concrete educational situations.
Course contents
The course will explore some of the main concepts and topics of intercultural education:
· multiculturalism and interculturality
· migratory flows and models of integration and coexistence
· stereotypes and prejudices
· racism
· second generations of immigrants
· migrant literature
· multicultural classes
· ethnic-cultural conflict and its management
· sectarianism and religious pluralism
Further insights will be proposed starting from the backgrounds, experiences and interests of the students who will attend the course.
Readings/Bibliography
The language of the course is English. The teacher will propose a selection of readings in English.

Frontal lessons, discussions and working groups
Assessment methods
Oral discussion on the course contents. Attending students have the possibility of integrating the exam with the display of individual or group in-depth research.
