Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student will be able to: a- Provide a theoretical basis of knowledge of the main fields of emergencies in pediatrics b- Acquire technical skills through interactive teaching of exemplary clinical cases that allow to recognize the therapeutic diagnostic paths related to more frequent emergency pathological conditions in developmental age. c- Recognize and autonomously assess quickly, even in terms of differential diagnosis, an urgency among the most frequent in the child population, d- Choose the instrumental and blood chemistry investigations useful for the diagnosis and quantification of the seriousness of the disease in progress by interpreting the results, and- Decide the acute therapy (also applying ad hoc protocols), giving priority to the treatment of symptoms expressed by the impairment of the main vital parameters, f- Manage the small patient in the short term: for eventual referral to hospital facilities. `urgency (urgency in the area) or, in the hospital setting to decide for discharge, OBI, hospitalization in wards of Emergency Pediatrics, Reanimation and / or Pediatric Specialists 5- Communicate with the parental couple and the little patient taking into account the psychological aspects- emotions of urgency.

- chest pain and syncope

- dilated and hypertrophic cardiomyopathies with acute onset

- coronary anomalies

Teaching methods

The end-of-course exam aims to assess the achievement of educational objectives:

- the basics of pediatric and neonatal cardiology

- the main cardiological emergencies of the neonatal and pediatric age

- Acquire the ability to orient oneself in the face of the main neonatal and pediatric cardiological emergencies, in order to arrive at a correct diagnosis and an appropriate therapeutic approach

Assessment methods

The final grade of the Course is defined by means of a written test conducted with the multiple choice test method, on topics related to the main objectives of the Course.

The teaching material presented in class will be made available to the student in electronic format and delivered to students in class.
