Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student has basic knowledge of the diseases that originate and / or occur during the development of the organism. In particular, the student is able to: - frame the processes that lead to the somato-functional maturation of the individual; - understand the specific "health needs" of the period of life from birth to adolescence; - identify the main pediatric diseases through the correct anamnestic collection and clinical reasoning to define a diagnostic hypothesis; - indicate the most appropriate investigations to confirm the diagnostic hypothesis; - know the main therapeutic interventions of childhood pathology.

Course contents

Growth and growth pathology, Pubertal development and puberty pathology, Main genetic and chromosomal diseases, Hypogonadism and disorders of sexual differentiation, Congenital and acquired thyroid disease in pediatric age, Neonatal screening, Rickets, childhood obesity, Type 1 diabetes mellitus, hereditary metabolic diseases.
