Learning outcomes

The course aims to give knowledges about illness experience in the scope of communication with oncologic patients.

Course contents

- Biomedical model and biopsychosocial model in helping relationships.

- "Disease-centered Medicine" and "Patient-centered Medicine".

- Communication techniques: advantages and constrains.

- Bad news disclosure and the reaction of cancer patient and their caregivers.

- Psychological support in processing suffering.

- Medical Humanities and Narrative-based Medicine.
