Learning outcomes
The student is able to describe the shape, structure, relationships and projection on the surface of the body of the abdominal-pelvic organs. It is able to describe the structures of the central nervous system and identify the main lesions of the peripheral nerves.
Course contents
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Oral cavity and related formations. Topography, systematic anatomy, vascularization, innervation of the different sections of the digestive canal. Behavior of the peritoneum in relation to the development of organs.
URINARY SYSTEM
Kidneys: renal lodge, external and internal configuration, vascularization, innervation, functional anatomy of the nephron. Course, vascularization and innervation of the urinary tract. Organogenesis of the urinary system.
MALE GENITAL SYSTEM
Male gonads. Course of the spermatic ducts and related glands. External genital organs. Organogenesis of the male genital system.
FEMALE GENITAL SYSTEM
Female gonads. Genital tracts: uterine tubes, uterus, vagina. External genital organs. Mammary gland. Organogenesis of the female genital system.
ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
Topography, macroscopic, microscopic and functional anatomy of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, endocrine pancreas.

Teaching methods
The lecturers of the course, after having illustrated in detail the microscopic characteristics of the individual organs, guide the students, divided into small groups, to observe the preparations under an optical microscope.
Assessment methods
To access the oral interview, it is necessary to pass a multiple choice quiz test.
The final test consists of an oral interview in which the student, having plastic models available, will have to demonstrate acquired knowledge of systematic and topographical anatomy of the various organs and of Neuroanatomy. The recognition of a microscopic preparation is also foreseen.
Teaching tools
In the field of microscopic anatomy, students have microscopic preparations and optical microscopes at their disposal.
