Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student has in depth learnt the names and functions of anatomical structures, which will help him/her in better understanding the human physiology and biochemistry.

Course contents

Skeletal system: divisions and functions. The vertebral column, bone vertebral structure and classification. Ligaments, joints and muscles.

The skull, brain and facial bones. Cranial fossae. Joint classification. Temporomandibular joint.

Cardiovascular system: heart and pericardium. Circulatory loops. Basic structure of the blood vessels. Coronary arteries, aorta and pulmonary arteries.

Respiratory system: morphology of the upper airways (nose, nasal cavity, pharynx). Morphology of the lower airways (larynx, trachea and the stem bronchi). Lungs, pulmonary segments, the intrapulmonary conducting airways. The thoracic cage. Diaphragm and the lung–chest system

Digestive system: pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine. Liver, gallbladder and biliary tract. Hepatic portal system.
