Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student: a) knows and uses the constructions of pedagogical education; b) knows the methods of educational intervention; c) knows the epistemology and conceptual framework of educational work with disabilities; d) can distinguish between different types of disability; e) knows models of treatment and intervention.

Course contents

Course contents are the same for students who attend and do not attend.

The general aim of the Special Pedagogy module is to deal with the conceptual framework of Special Pedagogy from the epistemology and the history of the discipline.

The contents of the Special Pedagogical Module include:
• the evolution of the legal framework in Italy and Europe on the social and educational inclusion of persons with disabilities;
• types of disability: categorization and current scientific debate;
• inclusive practices in the social and school area: pedagogical mediation.
Contents will be dealt with following the reference bibliography of the course and through the presentation of the main studies and research about the topics proposed.

Competences to be achieved in module 1:
- be able to recognize and identify an epistemological and conceptual framework related to educational work with disabilities;
- be able to reconstruct the genesis of the Special Pedagogy and recognize its main evolutions over time until today;
- be able to read the regulations and laws of reference in the field of inclusion of people with disabilities.

In addition, slide, articles and didactic materials will be provided on the course website.

Teaching methods

In addition to traditional methods of teaching, active methods will be proposed. They will allow learning in the presence of pedagogical intervention methods. Activities will be proposed through a structured sequence of analogous and metaphorical actions, providing a suitable environment for experiential learning.

Assessment methods

The exam will be written and divided into two parts: one for the M- module 1 and one for the  module 2. The test will be about two hours. The vote will be in thirty-five. To reach 30 you will need to answer fully all the questions in the text of the task.

There will be no intermediate tests.

During the test of module 1 it will be possible to consult the reference text.

The test for Module 1 will consist of three open-ended questions and the grade in thirtieths will average the grade for Module 2.

The test for Module 2 will consist of 8 closed questions and 3 open questions.

Teaching tools

The lessons will be carried out through the use of the main technological tools (power point, video ..) together with documents for analysis.
