Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student must investigate nursing and obstetric, organizational, educational care processes, related to the evolution of the population's health problems, the functioning of health and social systems and specific professionalization paths.
Course contents
Source of problems in clinical practice,
how to develop a specific research question based on the problem: role, characteristics and facilitators.
Formulating research hypothesis and
identification of variables. Clinical examples.
Literature review, conceptual framework of EBP
data banks and critical appraisal.
Designs of nursing research: clinical trials and non-experimental research: characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. Clinical examples.
Sampling designs: power of the study. Measurement and data collection, basic knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics. Ethical problems and the role of the Institutional Revision Board.
The health Service Research: Features, Evolution and critical respect to clinical research
The research path: the objectives, the questions / hypotheses and research variables.
The study designs: peculiarities and weaknesses.
