Learning outcomes

At the end of the course students will have the knowledge concerning preanalytical error, analytic and biologic variability, quality control, decision and critical valuee, sensitivity and specificity of a specific laboratory exam. The student will reach the ability of evaluation of the functional status of organs and tissues, by knowing methodological bases and by interpreting results of the main laboratory exams.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons. Supplementary exercises are proposed during the lessons to be solved in groups and discussed during class.

Assessment methods

The final exam will be an oral exam to test the students' acquired knowledge. The exam will evaluate the knowledge of at least two topics concerning the program. The total duration of the exam will be about 20 minutes. The knowledge of these topics and the assessment of the use of a pertinent scientific speech will be considered as an excellent score.
