Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has a preparation that allows you to recognize, address and solve simple cases of child dentistry. In particular, the student is able to: recognize and properly use the main tools used for oral hygiene and Prevention in the odontoitria of evolutionary age. Recognizing and using appropriately the main materials for the dentistry diagnose the main pathologies or maintenance procedures that require a treatment of motivation or maintenance. Recognize the indications to the treatment: Fluoroprofilassi, various supplements (their composition, indication of use, compliance monitoring), sealing, polishing existing restorations. Organizing an environment for pediatric dentistry co-ordinate a team for the conduct of operative interventions assist deciduous teeth and small oral surgery operations manage the complications of extractions and small Pediatric Oral Surgery

Course contents

The medical-patient communication in pediatriaca age; The management of the patient and his family.

Odontostomatologico Clinical examination in infantile dentistry.

Conservative and endodontic therapy of permanent teeth with apex not fully formed.

Mucosal diseases in the evolutionary age.

Pedodontica surgery.

The pharmacological therapy of odontostomatologiche pathologies in the evolutionary age.

Orthopaedic-orthodontic pathologies in deciduous and mixed dentition: Diagnosis and Intercettiva therapy.

The maintenance of space in mixed dentition deciduous.

The promotion of oral health in the child affected by systemic conditions and in disability

Teaching methods

The teaching is composed of frontal lessons.

The lessons, set on the principles of medical teaching, provide a close interaction between teachers and students.


Assessment methods

The final examination is divided into a written test, concerning the resolution of a clinical case and an oral test to verify the acquisition of the knowledge.
