Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will have the deeply and critical knowledge of the many top and base institution, central and peripherals who founded medieval Church. The student is able to use critically the different sources with direct knowledge of original sources related to: religious orders, periods of radical and partial reform, relations between the ecclesiastical and secular power, phases of crisis and decline with related reasons, the main ecclesiological issues (papal primacy and conciliarism), division and schism, canonical norm. He hold the ability to use teaching tools and knows the importance of the historical documentary heritage. He knows how to communicate with oral form using the specific terminology.

Course contents

30 hour lesson (6 cfu) starting November 12th 2018;  All main issues of the medieval Church history will be studied in deep.

Teaching methods

Traditional lesson will be done together with short comments on sources and illustrationns of the main historical thesis.

Assessment methods

Oral test at the end of the course as per the timetable. Three questions concerning the most important topics. For students who have attended the course one question will be focused on topic executed during lessons. Test duration approx. 20 min. during which the Professor will assess thje knowledge and skill of the main topics.
