Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student knows the theoretical and methodological grounds of the intercultural approach to education, which enables him/her to plan and lead a sport- educational intervention in multicultural situations (at school or in extra-school environments), cooperating with other educational professionals; he/she will be able to carry on observations, analysis and evaluation of multicultural contexts, applying the theoretical knowledge in concrete educational situations;
Course contents
The course will explore the main concepts and knwoledge
connected to the multicultural societies. The topics covered in the
course are the following:
-Multicultural societies and intercultural approach
-stereotypes, prejuidices and vocational approach
-racism and cultural relativism
-migration and learning processes
-diversity, differences, valorisation of the differences
- assimilation, segregation and integration
-intercultural education: construction and evaluation of
outside-school learning paths, primarily connected to the sport
environment

Assessment methods
The final examination is oral and and aims at evaluating
students' achievement of the following goals:
- to uncover and analyze meaning and role of the intercultural
approach in the contemporary multicultural societies;
- to reason the interrelation of the intercultural pedagogy with
the other educational sciences;
- to identify the conceptual theories of scientific investigations
in the multicultural field;
- to identify the main emerging issues of the sport education in
multicultural environment;
- to know the main problems connected to the social and work
integration of migrant young people;
- to know the main models regulating the migrant access and stay in
European countries.
The examination's final mark will be defined on the basis of the
average marks obtained in the discussion both of the group work
made during the course and of two topics proposed in the
course.
