Learning outcomes
To learn how television as a system works with its technological,
institutional,econommical and cultural implications in major
national and european contexts thorugh the analysis of tv
models (public service - commercial - pay) evolution form birth to
current status (from television to post-television)
Course contents
Central to this 20 hours seminar is the analysis of the present transiton of television from the classical models of late twentieth (psb, commercial tv) and early twenyfirst centuries (multichannel pay tv ) to current new models in development (neo,social,post tv) challenging the organizational, production and distribution systems, but also the relationship of tv vis-a-vis national political institutions.

Teaching methods
A series of face-to-face lessons will cover the essentials of classical tv models in their historical context of origin, highlighting the technological, economical and political-cultural factors underlying the current phase of tramsition towards the future of tv. Students will be encouraged to develop their own approach to the subjects through research work and presentations of companies case studies, the relationship between different programming models, programming genres and financial resources (licence fee, advertising money, subscription fees..)
Assessment methods
Enrolling in the Seminar makes attendance obligatory. Final evaluation of students' progress will mainly rest on their active participation to the seminar (60%). The remaining 35% will depend on their performing of research and presentation activities
