Learning outcomes

To provide students with information, knowledge and abilities to evaluate food intake and nutritional status in different life periods (childhood, maturity, aging), when they change according to different needs. Provide hints as to how much nutritional status is intimately linked with well-being and illness/disease in the individuals. Exploit students ability to put this information in the context of their professional competence


Course contents

Anthropometry, bioimpedenziometry, DEXA. Calories, carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. The principles of indirect calorimetry. Energy balance. Physical activity and physical exercise: qualitative and quantitative methods for a correct estimate of physical activity.

Frontal lessons, laboratory
