Learning outcomes

The student will be trained in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders. The knowledge will be useful in the fields of general medicine and in the various specialties

Course contents

The physiological basis of sleep; the "scoring" of sleep: the new international criteria; clinical and instrumental diagnostic procedures for sleep disorders; how to diagnose and treat insomnia: hypnotics medications and cognitive-behavioral therapy; the circadian rhythm disorders in shift workers and delays \ advances phase;  obstructive sleep apnea syndrome ( OSAS) : how to diagnose it and how to treat it
