Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows some basic computer elements, the usage of spreadsheets to analyse experimental data and to make histograms and plots, and the usage of databases. He possesses sufficient knowledge to use basic informatics tools to organize her/his work and to handle laboratory activities.

Three modules: Internet and WWW, Spreadsheets, Database/Access.

Teaching methods

Introductory lessons for each module, e-mail, faq, self-learning using the Web.

Assessment methods

The qualifying examination consists of 30 multiple choice tests to be completed in 25 minutes. Book or others supports are not allowed. The tests regard all the course contents. The qualification is obtained passing at least 16 tests.

Teaching tools

PC and videoprojector for the lectures, individual PCs available for selftraining (the unibo elearning environment will be used).
The sections comprising the course are available through the UNIBO e-learning service gateway (https://elearning-cds.unibo.it/course/view.php?id=1344) upon registration, as it will be explained during the first lecture.
