Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has some basic knowledge of computer science necessary for the continuation of studies. In particular, knows the networks, the Web, the use of the spreadsheet and the use of databases for scientific research.

You do not need any text, since all the material is available on-line through the procedures described in  "Teaching Tools" section. The paper version of the same material is available in the book "Fundamentals of Computing", Vol 1 and 2, Ed Freeman (https://a3.unibo.it/ATutor/a3_tools/libro/libro.htm ).

Teaching methods

Introductory lessons to individual modules from the tutor, email and faq, self-learning through the Web

Assessment methods

The examination consists of a quiz of 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed at the terminal. (4 answers for each question) on the three exam modules (electronic spreadsheet, Internet / WWW and services, how to design a simple database). The final exam takes 25 minutes and you get the suitability by correctly answering 16 questions (in case of a wrong answer there is not penalty).

The modules of the course are available through the e-learning service (https://elearning-cds.unibo.it/course/view.php?id=2552) after registration procedure which will be discussed during the first lecture of the course.
