Learning outcomes
The course will examine the new requirements that diplomacy must comply with, both at the national and global level, in the present transitional phase of the international relations system: pointing out the radical changes that occurred after the "Cold War" and the public and multilateral diplomatic methods that resulted from it; with special reference to specific crisis situations.
Course contents
The course will familiarise students with the diplomatic method and practice, its characteristics and limitations; with special reference to the evolution of its functions and operational modalities, also through the analysis of specific historical and current examples, with respect to the present transition from bilateral to multilateral formats. Lessons will involve students interactively in discussions which, together with possible written papers, will contribute to their final comprehensive grading.

The course will consist in lessons and class discussions
Assessment methods
Students, whether following the course or not, will undergo a final individual oral exam aimed at appreciating the degree in which the structures and methods of diplomatic activity. The final grade will also result from the degree of individual participation in class discussions, written tests held during the semester, and the knowledge of some of the reference books.
