Course contents

This course covers the analysis of the processes of change that take place within democratic countries in relationship to or in interaction with the processes of regional integration. It will start from the European cases and the consequent impact the EU integration has on the MSs' democratic institutions. Then it will move to focus on the interaction between the democratic changes and the regional integraton in other regions of the world, with specific attention devoted to the Latin Americas.

Students can rely for their research and study on the data set resulting from two international research projects on EU democracies and economic crisis and on LAs.
