Short Bio

PhD in sociology at the University of Paris IV Sorbonne in 2001. Jean Monnet Fellow (EUI° in 2003, Fulbright Fellow (UC Berkeley) in 2007, associate the Institute of social sciences of politics, ENS Paris Saclay. She coordinates "Just Europe", ICEDD Luiss. Member of the Observatory for the assessment of the impact of the reforms for the growth of the country from 2014 to 2017. Currently a member of the OECD Research Conference On Justice. Member of the Société de Législation Comparée. From 2019 to 2023 he was a member of the Scientific Steering Committee of the Council of State. In 2021 she was appointed by Minister Marta Cartabia as a member of the Technical Commission on the reform of the judicial system.Her research interests are at the crossroads of sociological and political disciplines and focus on the transformation of the rule of law, both in relation to social dynamics in multi-cultural societies, and in relation to the hybridization of languages - natural and artificial - is still related to the redefinition of the functional and territorial boundaries to which the law refers

Professor Piana receives by appointment for the development of research theses having as main themes: legal normativity in the digital society; trust and forms of civism in a comparative perspective; the performativity of the law and the trial; change processes unfolding in public governance institutions.
