Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, the student will have acquired the essential knowledge of the generalities of Health Systems, planning, organization and management of care processes in hospital and territorial settings, and health economics.

Course contents

The health care system: evolution of health care organization in Italy.

Corporatization in health care, and health care delivery structures.

Health care management: definition and functions.

The structuring of hospital care: SDOs and the DRG system.

The territorial network.

Case-mix classification systems, the healthcare financing system and the potential impact on equity of care.

Health service evaluation systems.

The complexity of planning.
