Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student knows the operational areas of competence of the midwife: gynecological, neonatal and obstetric area.

In these contexts she takes care of the person both from a clinical (midwifery cure) and support (midwifery care) as well as educational/informative (midwifery educator) point of view.

Faced with the demand for health inherent in the natural manifestations of the cycle of life, it acts with progressive autonomy.

You understand potentially pathological situations that require the contribution of the doctor and are able to provide the health measures necessary to safeguard the life of the person, in the absence of the doctor himself.

Course contents

The professional internship of the third year of the course, preceded by a preparatory phase in the classroom, is aimed at acquiring knowledge, skills, behaviors aimed in particular at providing assistance to childbirth and post-partum and, more in the specific, in contexts of Physiology and Emergency-Urgency, in the care of the healthy and suffering newborn and in the organizational aspects.

In this internship, the student will be able to refine the techniques learned during the 20-hour WHO-UNICEF course, to support breastfeeding for mothers of newborns. During each internship experience the student is supported by a tutor.

In order to be admitted to the internship exam, in addition to the completion of the amount, the student must have achieved sufficient level in all the objectives set by the clinical learning path of the course year.

Assessment methods

The exam consists of:

a) preparation of a PPT presentation on a topic chosen by the student carried out in plenary

b) in a practical test with simulation of a realistic context aimed at verifying the achievement of the objectives of the course year and effective communication addressed to the assisted persons.

In evaluating the candidate, the commission will pay particular attention to assessing the acquisition of an appropriate technical-scientific language

The internship experiences carried out will be considered in the final evaluation.
