Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student possesses the knowledge relating to taking charge of the person/family in the context of priority health problems in the surgical area. Identifies, plans and evaluates assistance interventions and collaborates with other professional figures in the diagnostic-therapeutic pathways

Course contents

general part perioperative care, drainage: types, purposes, indications and management, SNG: types, purposes, indications and management, postoperative complications, artificial nutrition: role of the nurse, intestinal ostomies: types, purposes, indications and management, injuries from malpositioning, hypothermia abdominal surgery diagnostic tests of the gastrointestinal tract, nursing assistance to the person with: abdominal wall hernias, peptic ulcer, gastric cancer, colorectal neoplasia, diverticular disease, proctological pathologies, cholelithiasis, pancreatic cancer, peritoneal carcinosis, PEG. diagnostic tests: liver biopsy neck and chest surgery nursing assistance to the person with: thyroid pathologies, laryngeal pathologies, breast pathologies, pneumothorax, lung cancer vascular surgery nursing care for the person with: carotid stenosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm, chronic obstructive arterial disease, varicose veins of the lower limbs emergency surgery nursing care of the person with: acute abdomen, appendicitis, peritonitis, intestinal obstruction, pancreatitis, digestive haemorrhage, intestinal infarction nursing care of the person with abdominal trauma fracture of the femur and pelvis urological surgery diagnostic tests of the urological system nursing assistance to the person with: urinary tract stones, benign prostatic hypertrophy, neoplastic diseases of the prostate, kidney and bladder, urological ostomies: management and assistance gynecological surgery hysterectomy

Assessment methods

The verification of learning takes place through a final exam, which ascertains the acquisition of the expected knowledge and skills through an oral exam lasting 15 min. about without the help of notes or books.

The final grade of the C.I. it is calculated as the weighted average of the positive results (over 18/30) of the various modules that make up the integrated course.

The methods of verification for the various modules that make up the CI NURSING MEDICAL SURGICAL SCIENCES are decided by the individual teacher.
