96981 - Elements of Design and Management of Green Areas

Academic Year 2022/2023

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Sciences and Technologies for Green and Landscape (cod. 5830)

Learning outcomes

The course provides the student with the principles of green areas design and management. Elements of environmental and financial sustainability are included. Thus, the student will gain knowledge in (I) correctly setting a proper design method, (II) organizing the different spaces, and (III) choosing the most effective tools to maximize the benefits of green areas.

Course contents

The student addressing this subject is aknowledge in botanics, chemistry and plants physiology as a result of the attendance to the other classes.

Readings/Bibliography

The professor provides all the teaching materials free from copyrights.

A comprehensive reference text is Chiusoli A., “La scienza del paesaggio”, Ed. CLUEB, 1999

Teaching methods

The course subdivides in 6 units. Forty-five out of sixty hours (Unit 1 to 5) are spent in the classroom, providing the students with the knowledge required to correctly address the different aspects related to the landscape. The remaining hours consist in field and labs experiences aimed to create workgroups that will develop real projects basing on a real workflow.

Assessment methods

The final exam is an oral examination. At least three different topics will be discussed to assess the theoretical and practical background of the student.

Teaching tools

The powerpoint presentations showed during the lectures are available to the students.
