The student learns and applies the PET / CT study procedures and protocols and related protectionist regulations
Course contents
The path of the patient to perform a Pet; comparisons of mono and bi-photonic radioisotopes, emission energies, half-life, tropisms - Equipment in the hot chamber for the manipulation of bi-photonic radiopharmaceuticals: technical characteristics. Workload programming with relative calculation of the quantity to be ordered of radiopharmaceuticals (simulations) Pet Gantry construction technologies, crystals used and their characteristics; acquisition methods 2 and 3 D. Image acquisition protocols most used in Pet-Tc in relation to the radiopharmaceuticals used and, in collaboration with the specialist doctor, to the diagnostic questions; Behavior and D.P.I. to be adopted in controlled and supervised environments according to Legislative Decree no. 230/1995 and subsequent laws. Protections and instruments for environmental control according to current regulations; quality controls on the characteristics of the equipment used in nuclear medicine from installation to the verification of constancy of the characteristics during use of the same (the various figures involved in the checks and the procedures, with relative timelines, which the Tsrm must perform) Contaminameter (hand and foot contamination meter) - Automatic fractionation unit for the activities to be administered (DDS-A: Automatic Dose Drawing Station and others) in order to minimize the dose absorbed by the operators; waste management in nuclear medicines; rules and behaviors in the management of the radioactive patient.

Teaching methods
Lectures, frontal and / or in distance mode (DAD), theoretical with in-depth analysis and discussions on techniques in use on the national territory in Nuclear Medicine.
Assessment methods
Oral verification in presence or in remote mode (DAD), according to the legislative directives, of the knowledge aimed at ascertaining the skills to manage the technologies used in nuclear medicine and to manage the patient present in the ward.
