Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student has the ability to apply knowledge and understanding on the most appropriate therapeutic modalities in the neurological field. He knows how to plan, plan and carry out physiotherapy intervention by identifying the methods and times of application with a view to a global and / or analytical approach.

Course contents

The following topics will be addressed:

- Hemiplegia: general characteristics and rehabilitative aspects in pusher syndrome, in the upper limb and face, in walking.

- Severe acquired brain injuries: general aspects with focus on acute, sub-acute and outcomes.

- Multiple sclerosis: general aspects; early and late stage rehabilitation treatment; evaluation of aids.

- Nuclei of the base: neurophysiology and clinical aspects in the various syndromes with particular attention to Parkinson's disease.

- Spinal cord injuries: general characteristics of paraplegia and quadriplegia; treatment of the upper limb in the quadriplegic and walking in the paraplegic; general aspects and treatment of ventilatory problems.

- Ataxia: cerebellar neurophysiology; clinical evaluation of cerebellar disorders; rehabilitation treatment in ataxic disorders

Assessment methods

Written exam: 11 open-ended questions on the topics covered in class.

Each question is awarded 3 points depending on completeness, wrong answers are worth 0 points.

If the student answers 10 questions correctly, he will have a score of 30/30.

If he answers all 11 correctly and completely and comprehensively, he will have a grade of 30/30 and honors.

In case of impossibility to take the exam in person, the exam will be oral in online mode. In the event that one or more students are unable to be present or in the event of failing to pass the written test, we will proceed with an oral exam.
