92892 - COSTRUZIONI AEROPORTUALI M

Academic Year 2021/2022

  • Moduli: Claudio Lantieri (Modulo 1) Valeria Vignali (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Civil Engineering (cod. 0930)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student acquires good skills to design an airport infrastructure, from a geometric and functional point of view, with particular attention to air-side.

Course contents

Learning outcomes

Acquire good knowledge about the design criteria of airports.

Requirements/Prior knowledge

No requirement

Program

The course is structured in two complementary modules.

Module 1- Terminal System and Land-side system

The contents of module 1 concern the planning and development of terminal and land-side systems of an airport infrastructure, with a focus on the following issues:

  • National and international sector regulations
  • Elements of airport management
  • Programmatic tools for the development of an airport infrastructure
  • Basic notions for the design of the terminal system: dimensioning of the infrastructural subsystems
  • Development of the landside system and interconnected facilities

    Module 2 – Air-side

    The module contents concern the air-side area of an airport infrastructure and are developed within different macro-themes:

  • air side geometric design;
  • runway: length evaluation, orientation, declared distances and request distances;
  • design methods for airport pavements;
  • -obstacle limitation surfaces;
  • -visual aids for navigation.

Teaching methods

The organization is developed according to theoretical lessons in the classroom, accompanied in parallel by a practical exercise, which involves the (mandatory) drafting, in groups of 2-3 students, of the main documents of a project. The exercise will be continuous during both modules and aimed at the teachings of the period.

Assessment methods

The exam includes an oral test in which there will be two questions, one for each module. The final result will be the average. The discussion of the project presented is also foreseen. The student, in addition to the knowledge of theory and methods, is required to show argumentative ability and language properties.

Teaching tools

Lectures will be given with ppt slides.
