Learning outcomes

At the end of the lessons the student will have the ability to apply knowledge and understanding about the main physiotherapy methods used in neurology and will be able to evaluate and set up a treatment plan for them.

Course contents

The course will illustrate the Kabat method, the Bobath concept, Affolter concept and Perfett method, Motor Relearning Programme and Constraint Induced Movement Therapy for the treatment of the adult suffering from neurological disorders.

For each topic I will explain the:

Historical overview

Theoretical foundations

Application areas

Practical examples

We will also mention the graded motor imagery and mirror therapy.

Assessment methods

The assessment of learning is structured in two distinct moments:

- a first oral exam aimed at verifying the knowledge / understanding of the theoretical concepts illustrated during the lessons

- a second practical test that focuses on clinical reasoning, with the aim of evaluating clinical reasoning and verifying the adequate learning of manual skills.
