Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has a preparation that allows recognizing, facing and solving simple cases of oral surgery. In particular, the student is able to:

  • recognize and properly use the main instruments used for oral surgery;
  • properly recognize and use the main materials for oral surgery;
  • diagnose the main diseases that require oral surgery treatment;
  • recognize indications for oral surgery treatment;
  • plan simple oral surgery;
  • organize a surgical environment;
  • coordinating a team to carry out oral surgery;
  • perform dental extractions and small oral surgery operations;
  • manage the complications of extractions and small oral surgery operations

  • Introduction and presentation of the course
  • Objective examination and clinical record
  • Local anesthesia
  • The first visit: extra and intra oral examination and biometric examinations
  • Oral surgery in respect of anatomy
  • Sutures in oral surgery
  • Simple extractions
  • Extractions of impacted dental elements
  • Cysts of dental origin, cysts of non-dental origin, maxillary sinus cysts
