91297 - Applied Measurements for Power Systems M

Academic Year 2020/2021

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Electrical Energy Engineering (cod. 9066)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows the background of the theory of signals, of the measurement uncertainty arising in instrumentation as well as of the basic architecture of electronic measurement instrumentation used in electric power systems. At the end of the course students are able to evaluate the measurement uncertainty propagating through the measurement algorithms in complex measurement systems and to express it according to the new method proposed by the new GUM. Moreover they are also able to select sensors used in electric systems, according to the measurement functions, to condition their output signals, to set up properly the data acquisition system and to analyze the gathered data both in the time and frequency domain.

Course contents

  • Metrolofy-fundamentals
  • Probability and statistics
  • Analysis of signals in time domain
  • Analysis of signals in frequency domain
  • Signal conditioning circuits: the use of Operational Amplifier
