Learning outcomes
Recognize the morphologic and molecular features of neurological diseases,and correlate them with their clinical presentation.
Course contents
The course will focus on the neuropathological aspects of central nervous system (CNS) diseases.
An introduction to the basic pathological reactions of the CNS components will be followed by a discussion of the most common CNS disorders, including:
- Cerebrovascular disease, ischemic and hemorrhagic
- Trauma
- Inflammatory diseases: meningitis and meningoencephalitis
- Demyelinating diseases
- Brain tumors, primary and metastatic
- Basics of neurodegeneration
