Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows: - the basics and general principles of rehabilitation in the patient with head-brain trauma; - the assessment scales in severe brain trauma; - the treatment of disphagia in severe cranio-brain trauma; - the treatment of cognitive-behavioral and communicative-linguistic disorders in severe cranio-brain trauma. It is also able to: - perform cognitive-behavioral framing of the patient with head-brain trauma; - perform a morphodynamic assessment of the swallowing chain in the patient with head-brain trauma; - plan rehabilitative intervention for both the symptom dysphagia and for the cognitive-communication-linguistic deficits identified in the different rehabilitative (acute-subacut-chronic) phases; - discuss clinical cases in patients undergoing standardised test assessment of cognitive-communication-linguistic functions.

Course contents

Definition/cause/framing/categories-classification of TBI (Traumatic Brain Ingiury); Prognosis index for TBI.
Wearthing rehabilitation in severe head trauma (concept consciousness disorder – vegetative state - minimal responsiveness).
Rehabilitation assessment and approach in the different stages of cognitive-behavioral recovery in TCE (from acute to acute at the outcome stage) ;
Treatment of attention-mnesic deficits in TCE (post-traumatic amnesia; GOAT scale, video);
Treatment of the acquired linguistic deficit in TCE .
