- Docente: Matteo Minelli
- Credits: 3
- Language: Italian
- Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
- Campus: Bologna
- Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (cod. 8887)
Learning outcomes
The students will be provided with the ability to analyze, in various conditions, characteristic phenomena of physical and chemical processes, of interest for process industry.
Course contents
The laboratory course consists in a series of practical experiences, carried out by the students, conveniently distributed in different groups, after the presentation of the experiment provided by the professor.
The experimental sessions are focused on the following topics:
- hydraulic pressure drops and characteristic curves.
- ultrafiltration of a PVP solution in a spiral wound membrane module.
- measurement of the gas-liquid transport coefficient (kLa) in a stirred tank fermenter.
- measurement of diffusion coefficient in liquids.
- measurement of diffusion coefficient in gas (diffusion in a stagnant film).
Teaching methods
Theoretical presentations in a classroom and practical laboratory sessions, assisted and supported by the technicians.
Assessment methods
Preliminary check of the student presence to the laboratory sessions, preparation of a report on each of the experimental activity, followed by an oral discussion.
