Learning outcomes

The course is aimed at providing the student with the basic knowledge for the clinical evaluation and interpretation of the basic diagnostic laboratory techniques with particular focus on blood serum proteins, liver and kidney diseases.

Course contents

The course aims to providing the student the basic knowledge of clinical laboratory tests with particular focus on clinical pathology of serum tumor markers, liver and kidney function.

At the end of the course the student will be able to evaluate the basic serum diagnostic tests

  • Assessment of serum proteins.

The classes will be held in Italian with learning materials in English

Teaching methods

The course provides 1 CFU (class presentations).

Assessment methods

The final exam consists of a written test with 30 multiple choice questions on the matter of the presentations.
For each question, the student receives a vote. The weighted result based on the median performance of the other students and the standard deviation is expressed in 30/30.

The teaching material will be made available on the Insegnamenti Online platform in electronic format.
