Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is able to:

know the social, economic and regulatory context underlying the prevention activities in the environment and in the workplace;

know the technical and procedural prevention and protection measures;

Know the physical and chemical risks present in the living and working environments;

Know the prevention and protection techniques for the physical and chemical risks analyzed.

Course contents

General objectives

- know the social, economic and regulatory context underlying prevention activities in the environment and in the workplace.

- Know the reference legislative framework on workplace health and safety and the subjects with roles and responsibilities.

- Know the main strategies and techniques of prevention in the environment and in the workplace currently adopted or to be adopted and their evolution compared to the past.

- Know the reference standards and the techniques for measuring, sampling and assessing the physical and chemical risks present in the workplace

 

Teaching program

- Sources of law on health and safety at work, changes in legislation and general legislative framework (Legislative Decree 81/08).

- Principles of prevention in the workplace: concepts of health, danger / risk, damage (accident at work and occupational disease), definitions of prevention and protection.

- The organization of the corporate prevention system: the role of the corporate security subjects (DL, RSPP, RLS, MC, etc.) the obligations, tasks and profiles of responsability.

- Classification of the risks present in the workplace (health risks, safety risks, transversal risks).

- Prevention and protection measures that can be adopted in the workplace: collective (technical, procedural, organizational, hygienic / health) and individual protection.

- Noise in the workplace: physical parameters, reference standards, tools and techniques for measuring and protection in the workplace.

- Mechanical vibrations in the workplace: physical parameters, the reference standard, tools and techniques for measuring and protection in the workplace.

- The microclimate in the workplace: physical parameters and main microclimatic indices, the reference standard, the tools and techniques for measuring and protecting the workplace.

- The chemical risk in the workplace: the classification and labeling of dangerous substances; the reference legislation, the risk assessment, the tools and the main sampling techniques for airborne chemical substances (dust and gas) in the workplace

Oral test with questions relating to the verification of the knowledge acquired on the topics dealt with in the lessons with particular attention to the principles of prevention in the workplace, to the company organization on workplace health and safety and to the measurement, sampling, prevention and protection techniques of risks in the workplace.
