Medicine and Surgery (cod. 8415)
Also valid for Single cycle degree programme (LMCU) in Medicine and Surgery (cod. 9210)
Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of the anatomical variations of the systems and the molecular basis of morphogenesis, including with regard to pathological situations, particularly with regard to regenerative medicine. Ability to gather and interpret relevant data for independent judgment in the field of human morphological sciences. Ability to transfer the knowledge gained in the field of morphology to a wide biomedical audience. Learning concepts and advanced technologies that will allow to better understand the topics of study of the following years.
Course contents
Signal transduction pathways of hematopoietic interest.
The hematopoietic cell hyerarchy: The hematopoietic stem cell, the progenitor cells, the mature precursors.
Signaling related at the stem cell level: the stem cell factor/cKIT system and control of survival, proliferation and homing of the hematopoietic stem cell
Signaling related to the progenitor/precursor level: The erythropoietin/erythropoietin receptor system
Relationship between entrinsic and intrinsic control of hematopoiesis
