Learning outcomes


Course contents

Geography of landscape: environment and landscape in geographic tradition; meanings of "environment" and "landscape"; natural and human environment; sustaineble development; parks and environmental protection; landscape representation and analysis; landscape planning in Italy and in Europe after the European Landscape Convention. Landscape in literature, in history, in graphic art, in cartography. Analysis of rural and urban landscapes. Analysis of the Po river, its embankments and works of land reclamation carried out during the past centuries.

Assessment methods

Oral exam about the subjects of lessons, conferences, field trips, etc.  and about three recommended texts. Students who attend the lessons will study two recommended texts.

A global and thorough understanding of the subjects of lessons and of the recommended texts, a critical evaluation of them, the use of the specific language will gain an excellent grade.

A mnemonic knowledge, with a synthesis and analysis ability and the correct, but not always appropriate use of the specific language will gain a medium grade.

A minimum knowledge of the texts and/or the subjects of lessons, with omissions and a flawed language will gain a pass grade. 

Any performance below the one mentioned above will result in a failed exam
