Learning outcomes

Conscious usage of the information technologies. Knowledge of  hardware and software basics. Computer networks, the Internet and the Web specifically. When completed the course, the student should: analytically use of the computer; follow the evolution of IT; apply the computer to solve some kind of problems; be able to use common tools.

Course contents

Introduction to Information Technology and brief history of the automation of calculus. Representing information digitally. Computer Architecture. Operating Systems. Algorithms. Computer networks, Internet and WWW. Introduction to the HTML language. Searching information on the WWW. Social implication of Information Technology. Privacy and digital security. Word processing. Spreadsheets. Introduction to databases.
