Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student: knows how to diagnose the most common skin diseases knows how to diagnose the most common skin tumours knows how to diagnose the most common skin infections

Course contents

 

Anatomy and physiopathology of the skin and skin adnexa. Types of skin lesions.

Acne.

Vitiligo.

Viral diseases: herpes simplex, herpes zoster, molluscum contagiosum, HPV infections.

Fungal diseases: pityriasis versicolor, candidiasis e dermatophytosis.

Bacterial diseases: impetigo, erysipelas.

Parasitic infections: scabies and pediculosis.

Dermatitis: contact dermatitis, photodermatitis, atopic dermatitis, diaper dermatitis.

Urticaria and cutaneous reactions to drugs.

Psoriasis.

Sexually transmitted diseases: syphilis, urethritis.

Premalignant lesions and  skin tumors.

Disorders of melanocytes: nevi and cutaneous melanoma.

Assessment methods

The final examination is aimed at evaluating the achievement of the objectives of the course .

To learn how to diagnose the most common skin diseases.

To learn how to diagnose the most common skin tumours.

To learn how to diagnose the most common skin infections.

The final grade is determined by taking the mean of the grades achieved in three specific tests on the principal objectives of the course
