Learning outcomes

Aim of the course is the knowledge of the composition of microbial ecosystems and the acquisition of the traditional and molecular approaches for the microbiological analysis of the phytoderivatives. The experimental methods will be acquired through lab exercises.

Sterilization: principles and methods.
Categories of drugs according to microbiological requirements.
Sterility control.
Microbiological tests of non-sterile products.
Preservatives and validation: Challenge test.
Determination of bacterial endotoxins: LAL test.
