Course contents

Control systems introduction. Laplace transform. Inverse Laplace transform.

Stability analysis for a system. Routh stability criterion.

Frequency response of linear systems: Bode diagrams, Nyquist plot

Open and closed-loop systems: Definition and evaluation of permanent errors. Definition of margin of phase and amplitude.

Nyquist stability criterion. Root Locus. Feedback control design.

Mechanical and Hydraulic components of a control system: Watt's governor. Hydraulic motor. Proportional control valves.

Power plant control: steam turbine control, boiler control, turbogas, vapor-based co-generative power plant, Internal combustion engine
