TELETRAFFIC THEORY
- introduction to teletraffic theory and queuing systems.
- Markov chains and birth and death processes
- Markovian queues and the Erlang formulas.
- Application to analysis, dimensioning and planning of circuit and packet switched networks.
INTERNET ROUTING
- Analysis of switching systems.
- Fast routing and switching: MPLS and GMPLS.
- Traffic engineering, network protection and restoration.
END-TO-END CONTROL AND THE TRANSPORT PROTOCOLS
- Overview of the TCP protocol .
- TCP flow control: the AIMD concept.
- Mathematical models to estimate the throughput of a TCP connection.
