Learning outcomes

Understanding of the pathophysiological basis of diseases related to glaucoma and retina with particular attention to the conventional pharmacological treatment approach together with new possible strategies for drug delivery (Implantable Intravitreal Drug Delivery Technologies)

 

Course contents

The general pharmacology eye (topical administration, absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion)
Elements of ophthalmic drug therapy.
New drug therapies (anti-VEGF inhibitors, Rho-kinase, Ocular gene therapy delivery, A3 agonists and drugs that act on adenosine receptors, cannabinoid system)
