Conoscenze e abilità da conseguire
Understand the different attempts to define privacy and data protection in the context of the ongoing tension between privacy laws and technology advancements and Artificial Intelligence development; Critically understand the different approaches to collecting, using, and selling personal and non-personal data; Analise and attempt to draft contracts, privacy policy and statements connected to the use and exchange of personal and non-personal data; Discuss and examine challenges related to the anonymization of personal data and the trade-offs between privacy and utility; Discuss and analyse how to determine the price of personal data and the trade-offs between privacy and other values; Explore the impacts of emerging technologies and emerging Artificial Intelligence legislation on the future of privacy and data protection (e.g. use and analyse challenges connected to the use of tool such as chat gpt as a law maker, as a law practitioner and as a client); Think critically about privacy and data protection issues from multiple angles, exploring cultural, policy and societal impacts

Metodi didattici
The seminar is based on active participation from students, whose presence is mandatory for 80% of the class.
Each lesson is focused on improving the student’s legal analysis skills through the discussion of practical cases in class.
Active interaction by students is therefore highly recommended.
Prerequisites
Enrollment in the course Big Data and Privacy Law (B2428) is a prerequisite for enrolment in the Seminar.
The course can only be taken after having succeeded in the Big Data and Privacy Law exam.
Modalità di verifica e valutazione dell'apprendimento
The assessment will be focused on the student’s knowledge as well as the ability to solve issues related to the topics analysed in class.
Students must submit a short paper whose object is decided with Professor Ratti during classes.
The drafting requirements will be shared during the course.

Students with disabilities, including learning disabilities, who need compensatory tools may communicate their needs to the Lecturer and be addressed to a referee, with whom they can agree on the adoption of the most suitable arrangements.
